Samsung LN46B750 46’’ 1080p 240hz LCD HDTV
The Samsung LN46B750 46’’ 1080p 240hz LCD HDTV is quite a nice machine for the money (generally around $2,000). It comes with a surprising four HDMI inputs, which is great for a mid-tier television. The system comes fitted with SRS TruSurround HD, making it great for home theater systems. The speakers are above average for standard HD television speakers.
The television has a deep contrast ratio (150,000:1), allowing for a better viewing experience. Another great feature of this television is the ability to connect to the Internet via Yahoo with the Medi@2.0 package. The wireless receiver picks up signals well so there’s no need to really worry about other machines interfering with your signal. Plus, you can sync your home electronics via the DLNA.
The dimensions of this Samsung television are 43.9 X 30.2 X 10.8 inches with the stand. This smaller size makes it easier to fit in a variety of places. It weighs about 54.2 pounds with the stand and only 43.4 pounds without the stand. This makes it easier to move the television around if you want to change position or need to take it down for something like painting.
Movies look great on this television. The deep contrast ratio along with the intense blacks heightens the movie viewing experience. You may want to invest a little extra and go with the LED backlighting as this makes your blacks even deeper. LCD televisions tend to work better in brighter environments so the backlighting helps in case your lighting is not up to par.
Overall, the colors really come forth, and the HD looks amazing. The picture doesn’t become grainy when things start moving. Plus, the machine doesn’t run hot so you shouldn’t have to deal with any thermal issues.

Besides having a lot of great features, the LN46B750 also looks really cool. It has more of the design of a higher-end model with its sleek edging and stylish black look. The Touch of Color grey is especially eye-catching in a room.
The navigation menu is pretty easy to use and fairly straightforward. Even better is that all the channels are lined up in a column so that you can scroll through them and pick the one that you want. You don’t have to try and skip through channels.
The system is really easy to put together. Everything fits together like it’s supposed to do, and Samsung’s technical support staff are very responsive. Finally, with the 240hz, you can adjust the dejudder and blur reduction settings. This will eliminate any fast-forward issues when you are viewing a movie.
Now, there are some of the issues that you may run into with this television. First of all, the CD that comes with the machine is only compatible with Windows. It won’t work on a Mac, and there’s very little help to be had on this front if you do have a Mac.
Secondly, many people have had issues with the remote control. The design is very strange and doesn’t sit properly in the hand like most remote controls. It uses AAA batteries as opposed to AA like most remote controls usually do. The television doesn’t respond to the remote well, especially when you first start up the television. Also, at start up, the television is sluggish. It seems to be processing something else besides what you are commanding it to do.
While the column function for the channels is quite nice, the system is backwards. The lower numbers sit at the top, and the higher numbers sit at the bottom, which is opposite to most scrolling options.
Samsung obviously needs to work on both its remote control and some of the menu options. But, overall, this is a great television for the money, especially if you’re trying to build a home theater system on the cheap. The only extra item that you may want to invest in is a higher-grade surround sound system if you are interested in a home theater setup.
